Money Saving Deals for Businesses: Get What You Need Without Breaking the Budget

Doing business can be expensive. From computers to apps, and everything in between, doing business costs money. Often, critical business needs are put on the back burner in order to stay on budget. Luckily there are some great ways to get what you need and save big bucks at the same time.  Over the eleven years, I’ve been running my own business, I’ve come across a few ways to save a few dollars for the things I need to run my business.  Without further ado, here are some of the ways I find money saving deals for businesses.

Daily Deals

Most us know about sites like Groupon and Seize the Deal, and while there are some aspects that might work well for your business (think photography deal for your business headshots or that Lindt chocolate deal for client gifting) generally you aren’t going to find a lot of business-focused deals there.  Did you know there are business-focused sites that are there to save you money?  Have you heard of AppSumo or Stacksocial? If you’re not familiar with them, you should be.

Of the two, AppSumo is definitely my favorite. Over the years I’ve saved up to 90% on things like Camtasia (screen recorder and video editor) and Scrivener for both Windows & Mac ( the go-to app for writers) as well as discovering some fabulous business tools like Serpstat (SEO), WebinarNinja (webinars), Missinglett_r (blog promotion on social media) and most recently AudioHero* (music tracks for videos).  My favorite deals are the lifetime subscriptions where you pay a set price for lifetime access to something that normally has monthly or yearly payments.

For example, my recent purchase of AudioHero* was $39 for a lifetime subscription which includes 3000 downloads. Even if I created a new video every day and downloaded a different audio track for each, those 3000 downloads would last me over 8 years. Definitely worth $39.  It’s much more likely I’ll create one or two videos a month, and I’ll probably re-use the same audio tracks for some of them, so yes, that 3000 downloads might as well be a lifetime.  I got a similar deal on WebinarNinja, which has gone through a major overhaul since my purchase to become one of the premier webinar services out there.  The folks at AppSumo are really great at finding useful tools while providing money-saving deals for businesses.

Software Subscriptions

One of the most expensive items a business could expect to incur used to be the purchase of software. Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat and more could cost hundreds of dollars per user, only to be obsolete when the next version of the software was released a year or so later. Today you can take advantage of subscription options that not only provide you with the software you need but keeps that software up to date so that you are always running the most recent versions. Office 365 and Adobe’s Creative Cloud gives you access to all of the applications under their umbrellas. But Adobe will also let you subscribe just to one of their applications. So if you are an office that needs Adobe Acrobat but has no use for Photoshop, you can subscribe just to Acrobat.  And let’s not forget Quickbooks, which also has a subscription model now.

Coupon Codes

While not specifically geared to business, utilizing coupon codes through sites like RetailMeNot can provide money-saving deals for businesses.  For example, taking advantage of local restaurant coupons when entertaining clients or potential clients, or using an oil change coupon for the company car.  There are also online codes for places like Vistaprint (business cards and marketing materials), Hotels.com and Avis (for lodging and renting a car on your next business trip) as well as GoDaddy (domain names and web hosting).  The problem with coupon codes is that some tend to remain on the site(s) after they have expired, so sometimes you’ll get a ‘not valid’ message when attempting to use them.  Even so, they can be a handy, money-saving tool in your business budget arsenal.

It never pays to be so concerned about saving money that you cut the wrong corners.  Some things are worth paying a little extra for. With sites like AppSumo, software subscriptions, and coupon codes, you can get top-quality and money-saving deals for businesses at the same time.
